What is Moissanite?
Moissanite, chemically known as synthetic silicon carbide, is a combination of two minerals, carbon and silicon, cultivated to form a gemstone. Its appearance is similar to that of a diamond, and it is often used as a substitute for the latter. It is also the gemstone whose physical properties are closest to those of natural diamonds.
Moissanite is colorless in themselves, but their high refractive index makes their fire color (fire color is the academic term for gemstone, also known as fire, which refers to the colored light reflected from the interior of faceted stones) vary according to the intensity of the light in different environments.
Moissanite was developed in 1980, then exclusively produced and patented by C3, a US-listed company, in 1996, and is being produced worldwide after patent protection expired in 2016.

High-Quality Moissanite
All of our moissanite can pass the diamond test and the main stone over 0.5ct will come with a GRA certificate. We are selling moissanite with a D color grade, VVS1 clarity grade, and excellent cut grade, which are shown on the certificate.
Difference between Moissanite and Diamond
-
Price: A carat of Moissanite sells for only one-tenth of the price of ordinary diamonds, and generally will not exceed US$1,5.
-
Source: Moissanitebelongs to synthetic simulation-style diamonds, which can be obtained in the laboratory through a series of tests. While ordinary diamonds need to go through a series of processes such as exploration of sites, development, screening, cutting, polishing, and identification by professional institutions.
-
Refractive Index: Diamond is 2.42, moissanite is 2.65, that is, moissanite’sfire color and refractive index are more than that of the diamond.
-
Hardness: The hardness of the diamond and moissanite is 10, 9.25, Although moissanite is slightly inferior in value, it is good enough to last forever and is not easily scratched.
-
Measurements: The weight of a diamond is measured in carats. As the density of moissanite is less than that of diamonds, the former has a lower weight under the same diameter. (e.g. a 1.0 ct moissanite with 6.5mm in diameter = 1.1ct diamond with 6.5mm in diameter) To prevent confusion, we label the moissanite as the same carats with diamonds under the same diameter.
Moissanite Laboratory Production Process
Step 1: Moissanite rough cutting into performed.
Step 2: Cutting into shapes, faceting by machine.
Step 3: After faceting, first quality checking.
Step 4: Select the stone with grade D color and FL clarity as to the raw material.
Step 5: Finished stone quality, checking with a magnifying glass.
Step 6: Testing moissanite’s hardness 9.25 Mohs, closed to natural diamond.
Step 7: Get your perfect jewelry with a GRA certificate!
